The short version
- MeroAlpha has no MeroAlpha account to create, and works fully signed out.
- Your research, paper account and settings stay on your Mac.
- Your questions go to the AI agent you connect, under your own account with that provider.
- If you sign in, verified findings are shared with other MeroAlpha users. Page contents, screenshots and your account’s cash are never shared.
- No ads, no analytics and no selling of data.
What stays on your Mac
The app keeps everything it makes in ~/Library/Application Support/com.meroalpha.agent/:
- Agent connection: which AI agent you chose and how to start it.
- Evidence: the pages the agent captured and the findings it drew from them.
- Paper account: virtual cash, holdings, orders, plans and the schedule.
- Optional keys and sign-in: a Jev key if you add one, and the shared store’s sign-in token, both saved readable only by your user account.
We cannot see this folder. Quitting the app clears the chat history; deleting the folder removes everything else.
What leaves your Mac
The AI agent you connect
MeroAlpha talks to an agent you install and sign in to yourself, such as Claude or Codex. Your questions, the pages the agent reads and the paper account details a run needs are sent to that agent, and through it to its provider (for example Anthropic or OpenAI). That provider’s own privacy policy and terms apply. We do not receive a copy.
The websites the agent reads
The agent opens public pages, such as NEPSE, ShareSansar, MeroLagani and news sites, in your Mac’s own web view. Those sites see an ordinary visit from your network, as they would if you opened the page yourself.
Jev browsing, if you turn it on
Off by default. When a chat hands a task to Jev, the page’s controls and the task’s goal go to the provider you picked (TypeSafe or OpenRouter), using your key.
Update checks
At launch, and when you choose Check for Updates, the app asks GitHub’s public releases API for the latest version. Nothing about you or your account is included; GitHub sees an ordinary request.
This website
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or trackers. It is hosted on GitHub Pages, which keeps standard request logs, such as IP addresses, under GitHub’s privacy statement.
Your choices and rights
- Use the app signed out, and nothing goes to the shared store.
- Ask us what your account holds, to correct it, or to delete it.
- These rights include those under Nepal’s Privacy Act, 2075 (2018), and the law where you live.
MeroAlpha is not meant for anyone under 18.
Changes and contact
When this policy changes, we update the date above and say what changed in the release notes. A change that shares more about you needs your consent first.
Questions or requests: contact email to be added, or open an issue on GitHub. For a deletion request, write from the email you signed in with.
